hah, i thought bbtp had died with stylus, but here a few months later I get a really nice surprise and find it alive. great news.

i'm not entirely sold on the lopazz/lee douglas/naughty axis. more excited by the pronsato/melchior/inspirescu tip. also amazing lack of 'i gave you away'.

still i now want to give the klimek a listen, and uusitalo a second chance. looking forward to the new year's reading.

I'm with you on the Burial, Michael - I really like it, but I think that if it were released in March it wouldn't be getting as much attention. There's always the rush/push to anoint the 'chosen one' in December 2007...

I think I am the only one who doesn't love the Burial album all the way through. I'm only feeling about half the tracks, which was the same case with the first album.

i really kind of wonder about the dubstep bandwagon - the genre has adopted, mythologized and fetishized the outsider role for so long... It's kind of incredible now that the bigger records are crossing over, but still trying to keep the pose (a silhouetted burial, pinch is from way out in bristol and skulldisco is just chewin' at the margins).

burial, though, has tweaked the sonic intensity of dubstep and just let it fade. i think of him like brakhage leaving his film out in the garden for a couple months - the bass becomes all flat and everything feels lost. great stuff.

these turned out about right i think

i don't know why i'm so unwilling to admit how much i love that burial album, maybe because it feels just a tad disingenuous to jump on the dubstep bandwagon (hovercraft?) at this point but it really is special. that said i still think "raver" is the best track on the thing! which says a lot.

don't know how that shackleton/RV remix didn't make first

the beck remix always sound to me like a square in a circle hole

"maybe that's the appeal"

well whatever

surprises: no baby oliver? what?! we will regret this
